Attune privacy policy

Last updated 15 October 2026. Applies to Attune for Mac and Attune for iPhone.

The short version

Attune has no servers and collects nothing about you. Your recordings, transcripts, notes and voice library are stored on your own devices. Data only leaves your devices when you use a cloud service you chose yourself — and never for confidential meetings.

What Attune stores, and where

What leaves your devices

Only what the services you select need, sent directly from your Mac to that service:

Voiceprints (biometric data) are never sent to any service. How those providers handle data is described in their own privacy policies.

What Cranky Walrus collects

Nothing. Attune contains no analytics, no tracking and no crash reporting, and it does not contact any Cranky Walrus server. Token usage shown in Attune is counted on your Mac and stays there.

Recording other people

You are responsible for telling participants that you record, and for following the law and your organisation's policies where you and they are.

Deleting your data

Delete meetings and notes in Attune (they go to the macOS Bin), reset voice profiles in Speakers, or remove the folder above to delete everything. Deleting the iPhone app removes its local data.
